About

I run, I cycle, I walk long distances — and I see patients who do the same. Lower-limb injuries in sport rarely come from a single bad moment. They come from training load, footwear, biomechanics and recovery. The job is to identify which of those is in play, and to give you a clear plan.

Details

Common presentations

Runner's plantar fasciitis
Often a training-load issue or worn-out shoes. Settles with the right protocol.
Shin splints
Medial tibial stress — load management, calf strength, and sometimes orthoses.
ITB syndrome
Lateral knee pain in runners and cyclists. Hips, glutes, and the foot all in play.
Stress reactions
Suspected stress fracture symptoms are referred for imaging — please don't run through these.
Blisters & callus
Foot prep, shoe fit, sock choice. The boring stuff that wins ultras.
Walkthrough

The assessment

1
History
Sport, weekly mileage, recent changes, shoes — and what's hurting.
2
Static assessment
Joint ranges, muscle strength tests, foot type, leg length.
3
Gait analysis
Walking — barefoot and in your shoes.
4
Plan
Strength work, load adjustments, footwear advice, and orthoses if indicated.
On orthoses

Custom orthoses help some athletes — particularly those with a clear biomechanical driver to their pain. They are not a fix for under-training, over-training, or running in worn shoes. We'll only fit them when there's a clear case.

Asked often

About sports injuries

Do I need to bring my running shoes?
Yes please — and any older pairs too. The wear pattern is genuinely useful.
Can you fit orthoses?
Yes. Both off-the-shelf and custom prescription orthoses — chosen to fit your specific need.
How long until I can train again?
Depends on the injury. The plan will always include what you can do (cross-training, modified load), not just what to avoid.
