About

This is Western medical acupuncture, not traditional Chinese acupuncture — fine, sterile needles placed at specific trigger and neuromuscular points to ease pain and encourage the body's own healing response. It's used as part of a wider treatment plan, not offered as a stand-alone cure.

Details

What's included

Assessment first
Acupuncture is only offered where there's a clear case for it — as an adjunct to a diagnosed mechanical or pain-related problem.
Fine, sterile needles
Disposable needles inserted at trigger points and along muscle pathways relevant to your pain.
Combined with treatment
Usually used alongside biomechanical assessment, stretching or orthoses — not as a treatment on its own.
Aftercare advice
What to expect afterwards (mild soreness is common) and when to expect an effect.
Walkthrough

What a session looks like

1
Discussion
Confirming acupuncture is appropriate for your presentation and checking for any contraindications.
2
Needling
Fine needles placed at relevant points, left in place for a short period.
3
Rest
A few minutes with the needles in, then removal and a check-in.
4
Plan
Whether to repeat, and what else — stretching, footwear, orthoses — supports the result.
What it's used for

Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, chronic heel pain and stubborn muscular tension in the lower limb respond best. It's one tool among several, not a first-line treatment for everything.

Asked often

About acupuncture

Does it hurt?
Most people feel a brief pinprick, then little or nothing. Mild soreness for a day afterwards is normal.
How many sessions will I need?
Often used in a short course of 3–6 sessions alongside other treatment, reviewed as we go.
Is it safe?
Yes, when used appropriately — sterile needles, and a full check for contraindications (e.g. certain medications, pregnancy) beforehand.
